Hobie is a managing partner with Towne Wealth Management, an affiliate of TowneBank. His area of focus is providing tailored financial advice to high-net-worth families and institutions.
A native of Sandbridge Beach, Hobie attended Cape Henry Collegiate and earned his bachelor’s degree from Hampden-Sydney College in 1992. Hobie’s first significant business experience was working for Virginia Maritime Association as the assistant to the Executive Director. After several years helping represent the interests of the Port of Hampton Roads, Hobie’s curiosity of financial markets led him to change directions in 1996 and enter a financial advisor training program with A.G. Edwards & Sons in Norfolk, Virginia. In 2017 Hobie was offered the opportunity to become part of the Towne family and open the Virginia Beach oceanfront office for Towne Wealth Management.
Hobie serves on the boards of Cape Henry Collegiate (class of ‘88 – go Red!), Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), and the North Virginia Beach Civic League*.
As a fan of everything outdoors, most any day Hobie can be found surfing, biking, or running at the north end of Virginia Beach. Hobie and his wife Melissa, a pediatrician practicing in Virginia Beach, have twin daughters, a dog, and a pony.
